Man assaulted after two males approach him for cigarettes

A MAN said he was assaulted when he was approached by two men who asked for cigarettes and he declined to offer them because he had only one left.

Police are investigating the incident which was reported as happening at 2am on October 9.

A 25-year-old man said he was attacked as he walked home on the town end of the Kilraughts Road and he had delayed reporting it to police until the following Monday because his nose was broken and he was knocked out and required hospital attention.

A police spokesman said the man said two males asked him for cigarettes and as he had only left he declined and he was then hit by one of the men.

The man who hit him was described as being between 18-19-years-old, of medium build and around 5ft 9ins - 5ft 10 ins tall with dark gelled spiky hair and he was wearing a white top.

The second man, not involved in the attack was around 5ft 6ins tall with flat dark hair.
