Man assaulted during burglary

Detectives are appealing for information following an aggravated burglary that occurred at a residential premises in the Ballyvannon Road, Glenavy in the early hours of Tuesday October 6.

Just after 4am, police received a report that a man had been assaulted in his home by men with iron bars.

He has been taken to hospital for treatment to his injuries which are not believed to be life threatening.

This investigation is currently being linked with the find of a burnt out car in the Lurgan Road area of Glenavy shortly after. This car was a black Renault Clio which had earlier been stolen from a house in the Dunmurry area.

Detective Constable Maxwell said: “I would ask anyone with any information about this incident to contact detectives in Lisburn Police Station on the non emergency number 101.
