Man attacked twice on same night in Cookstown taken to hospital

Witnesses are being sought by police after a man was assaulted twice on the same night in Cookstown.

Police said the victim was assaulted outside a fast food establishment on James Street, and then later set upon by men who got out of a car in Convent Lane.

The appeal for information into the attack, which happened on March 18, was issued last week.

“Sometime between 2.30am and 3.30am a man was assaulted outside a fast food establishment on James Street,” said a PSNI spokesman.

“The injured party then got up and walked towards Convent Lane, where two men got out of a car, one of whom was the assailant, who further assaulted him.

“He was taken to hospital for treatment to his injuries, which are not believed to be life threatening.”

Constable Neil Devecchis called on anyone who may have witnessed these incidents to contact Police at Magherafelt on the non-emergency number 101.
