Man badly injured in Waterside fire

The man is critically ill and is being treated in intensive care at the Royal Victoria Hospital.

The blaze broke out at the home in Rose Court, Gobnascale, on Tuesday afternoon.

Both the ground and first floors of the house were on fire when emergency crews arrived at the scene. Water jets were deployed to prevent the flames spreading to neighbouring houses.

The fire is being treated as accidental by the Fire and Rescue Service and the cause is under investigation.
