Man banned from Ballysally

A Coleraine man has been banned from entering the town’sBallysally estate as part of his bail conditions after a court heard he allegedly told a woman a gun would be put to her head and she would be shot and her house burnt down.

Anthony Sharkey (21), of Ballygallin Park, is alleged to have committed the offences on August 13 this year.

He is charged with assaulting the woman occasioning her actual bodily harm and making a threat to kill her.

He is further accused of threatening to damage the woman’s home.

A police officer told Coleraine Magistrates Court it is domestic matter and that the woman had received extensive bruising and that she had claimed she was punched in the face.

The officer told the short hearing that the woman also said the accused told her he would have her house burnt down and a gun would be put to her head and she would be killed.

The accused successfully changed his bail address from a B&B in Portrush to Maple Drive, Coleraine, so he can take up an offer of a house after being on the waiting list for a year.

He is banned from contacting the alleged injured party and from entering Ballysally and the case was adjourned to November 30.
