As well he was fined £75 for not having a vehicle test certificate.

The court heard the offences came to light when the defendant was stopped at a vehicle checkpoint on the Dungannon Road, Portadown.

A solicitor representing the defendant said he had six live points on his licence.

He added that his client had only one previous conviction for a no insurance offence in 2009 and there were a number of vehicles in the family with quite a number of insurance policies.
