A prosecutor said in March last year police went to a one vehicle road traffic collision and on arrival two males were present and they went to hospital.

She said it appeared the vehicle was going round a bend a hit a bank and rolled over before landing upright. It lost a bumper and a wheel.

The prosecutor said that at the hospital the defendant said he could not remember who was driving but she said a fire and rescue crew identified McCollum as the driver and ambulance personnel said he had been in the driver’s seat.

He was fined 200 for careless driving; 200 for absence of insurance; 50 for absence of MOT and 50 for failing to produce a driving licence.

The court was also given details of another incident which happened in August 2007 when the defendant caused criminal damage to a caravan at the Kelly’s complex in Portrush.

McCollum was not wearing a shirt at the time of the incident and told the police initially: “I never punched no caravan”.

The court heard there was an offer of a caution for the offence on foot of paying 300 restitution but that was never paid.
