Man became abusive to police officers

Christopher Paul Glenn Creaney (25), Loughview Manor, Lurgan, was sentenced to three months in prison, suspended for 12 months, for disorderly behaviour on March 8 this year.

The court heard that at 2.15am police were dealing with another incident in William Street, Lurgan, when Creaney said ‘you f—king b—ds’.

He was under the influence of alcohol and he continued to be abusive. He was warned about his behaviour but continued to shout and swear.

Mr Peter Murphy, representing the defendant, said it was a very foolish incident.

He explained that someone had been arrested and Creaney thought the police officers were looking at him and he reacted.

Mr Murphy added that Creaney went into a chip shop and was asked to come out. He was not arrested but told he would be reported and was let go.

District Judge, Mr Peter King, said the defendant had nine previous convictions including two for disorderly behaviour and one for assault occasioning actual bodily harm.
