As well he was fined £100 for not having a licence and ordered to pay a £15 offender’s levy.

The court heard police saw him driving in Linenhall Street in Banbridge on May 31. They followed him and he was stopped in Larchwood Avenue.

Riddall was unsteady of his feet and there was a smell of intoxicating liquor on his breath. An evidential breath test gave a reading of 92.

A solicitor representing the defendant said he was an Arsenal supporter and had been out watching the FA Cup final.

He added that Riddall needed cigarettes and decided to go and get some. He accepted he should not have been driving.
