Man charged over child porn

A 31-year-old Lurgan man has been charged with having an indecent photograph of a child and possessing an extreme pornographic image.

Darren Orr, Glenfield Road, Lurgan appeared today (Friday) at Craigavon Magistrates Court.

He faces four charges. The first is that on June 3 last year he made an indecent photograph or pseudo photograph of a child.

He is also accused of possession of an indecent photograph or pseudo photograph of a child.

Orr was further charged with possession of an extreme pornographic image and possession of an image of a child which was of such a nature it was prohibited by the Coroners and Justice Act 2009.

A police officer told the court he believed he could connect the defendant with the charges. A public prosecutor asked that Orr’s bail conditions should include a ban on using the internet and no mobile phone access.

A barrister representing the defendant said Orr was receiving specialist counselling via Skype and asked that he could be allowed to continue with this counselling.

District Judge, Mr Peter King, released Orr on his own bail of £500 with conditions.

They are that he is not to have any unsupervised contact with a child under the age of 18, reside at his home address, no mobile phone access and no internet access, except for his counselling.

He is due to appear in court again on October 7.
