Man charged with 1998 murder

A Lurgan man has been charged with the murder of Kevin Conway.

Mr Conway, 30, a father of four, was found dead with his hands tied behind his back and a gunshot wound to his head at Soldierstown Road, Aghalee in February 1998.

Gary Marshall (45) appeared in Craigavon Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday, charged with Mr Conway’s murder. Marshall, an electrician who lives in Ennis Drive, had been arrested at a hotel in Birmingham on Monday.

Detectives arrested Marshall after carrying out a review of the original RUC murder investigation.

The defendant was released on bail and is due in court again on January 22.
