Man charged with assault of woman

A man has appeared before Londonderry Magistrates Court charged with assaulting a woman.

He is Rajesh Vig (37) of Erinvale Avenue, who faces two charges of common assault relating to an alleged incident on January 18.

The court was told Vig had been released on police bail, but after making contact with the woman last weekend, he had been re-arrested.

Vig was again released, this time on conditional bail of £750, with instruction that he is not to have contact with the complainant and is banned from entering Ewing Street.

He is due back in court again on February 25.
