Man charged with sexual grooming of child online

A 21-year-old Portadown man has been accused of sexually grooming a child on social media and possessing an indecent photograph of a boy under the age of 16.

Christopher Davison, Granville Gardens, Portadown, made a first appearance at Craigavon Magistrates Court on Wednesday.

He is charged that between July 20 and August 17 last year for the purpose of obtaining sexual gratification he communicated with a boy under the age of 16.

Davison faces a similar charge which is alleged to have happened on March 25 last year with another boy.

He is further accused of grooming a child between July 20 and August 17 last year by messaging a boy and having in his possession an indecent photograph or pseudo photograph of a boy.

A police officer told the court he was familiar with the evidence in the case and believed he could connect the accused with the charges.

Davison was remanded on his own bail of £700 to appear again in court on August 31.

Bail conditions are that he is to reside at his home address, not to contact anyone connected with the Irish Football Association, not to contact anyone under the age of 18 by social media, text messages or any means whatsoever, stay out of Banbridge and not to contact anyone under 18 by any means whatsoever.
