Christmas Day claiming that he was 32-year-old American rapper Nicki Minaj.

Steven Brown, 23, who made the calls within five minutes of each other also claimed that there was a ghost in his house, a court heard.

The 23-year-old called 999 at around 10.30am on Christmas day, saying two men were threatening to kill him, before calling again a few minutes later and asking to cancel the first call.

The court heard how he was too intoxicated to provide any more information.

Later on in a second call he started the Nicki Minaj story.

The calls were a breach of a previous ASBO prohibiting him from calling the emergency number unless there was a genuine emergency.

Incredibly, when Brown was arrested, he didn’t deny the calls but reasoned that he thought there was an emergency.

Belfast Crown Court heard how Brown was an alcoholic and made the calls while intoxicated, leading to the judge banning him from misusing 999 and from consuming any alcohol.

In mitigation, Brown’s lawyer said he had just been released from hospital was taking medication, and had been drinking when he made the calls.

Imposing a 10pm to 7am curfew, Lord Justice Coghlin, said: “This man is essentially a nuisance, which no doubt is a product of his alcoholism.”

Prosecutors told the court that Brown had recently been released from prison ‘after serving a sentence for offences of a similar nature’ and that he was an alcoholic.
