Man did not have insurance to drive

A 37-year-old man who used a mobile phone while driving was also on the road without having any insurance.

Piotr Rafal Michalik, Carrigart, Craigavon, was fined £250 at the local court last Wednesday for the insurance offence. He was also given six penalty points. For using the phone while driving he was fined £150.

He was seen driving at Russell Drive in Lurgan at 2.15pm with a mobile phone to his right ear. He apologised to police who checked and found he was not insured.

Defence said Michalik had been living in the jurisdiction for a number of years and it was the first time he had appeared in court for this sort of offence.
