Man dies following A1 collision

A 55 year old man who died following a two vehicle collision on the A1, is believed locally to have been a foreign nataional.

An investigation is ongoing into the collision which occurred around 7.15am close to the Halfway Road on Monday, March 2.

A female was taken to hospital following the RTA, however her injuries are not believed to be life threatening.

Inspector Leslie Badger said: “Our thoughts are with the family of the deceased at this time” and councillor Joan Baird described the incident as ‘a terrible tragedy’.

Police are appealing for anyone who witnessed the collision or has information in relation to it, to contact them in Banbridge on 101.
