Man dies of natural causes ahead of crash

Police have said a man in his 80s who was involved in a car crash in Lisburn last Thursday evening died from natural causes. The Northern Ireland Fire and Rescue Service responded to a single-car crash at Comber Road in the Ballymacbrennan area around 7.20pm.

Firefighters used small tools to release the 86-year-old man from the vehicle.

He received CPR from firefighters at the scene under the supervision of a trauma doctor.

A post mortem determined the man died from natural causes prior to the collision taking place.
