Man embarks on fundraising drive

MAGHERAFELT man Paul McErlain is on a mission to fundraise for NSPCC’s services in Northern Ireland.

The keen runner is signed up to take part in the Great North Run in aid of NSPCC this September, and is taking part in an Iron Man contest at the end of the month as well as organising a 5k fun run/walk at Lough Fea, Cookstown on Tuesday 21 August to boost his fundraising efforts. The run starts at 7.30pm and entry costs £5 for adults and £10 for families.

Paul said: “I am motivated to raise money for NSPCC because I believe no child should ever suffer from cruelty or neglect and I hope any money raised will help give at least one child a better life.

“I would really appreciate your support by coming along to take part next Tuesday, or you can donate to my fund raising page at www.virginmoneygiving.com/paulmcerlain”

Clare Galbraith, NSPCC community fundraising manager, said: “We’re really grateful to Paul for his enthusiastic fundraising efforts - the fun run should appeal to everyone and will hopefully be a great event. Every penny raised will go towards NSPCC’s services for vulnerable children in Northern Ireland, including therapeutic work to help children move on with their lives after sexual abuse, support for young witnesses, and ChildLine, the NSPCC’s free 24 hour helpline for children and young people in need of help.”
