Man escapes injury in '˜murder attempt' at Cookstown home

Police in Cookstown are appealing for information after shots were fired at a house in the Tullyveagh Road area in the early hours of Tuesday morning, May 17.

Shortly before 3am, police received a report that two shots were fired through the living room window of the house. It is believed a shotgun was used.

They are treating the incident as attempted murder, but the 45-year-old man who was in the house at the time was not injured.

Detective Constable Paula McGale said: “I would appeal to anyone who may have witnessed any suspicious activity in the Tullyveagh Road area at the time, or who may have information about the incident to contact detectives at Cookstown on 101.

“Alternatively, information can be given anonymously through the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.”
