Man faces drugs charges

A 27 year old man has been charged with possession of a class B controlled drug, possessing a class B controlled drug with intent to supply, possessing a class C controlled drug and possessing a class C controlled drug with intent to supply.

He is expected to appear before Lisburn Magistrates Court on Thursday, September 13. As is normal procedure all charges will be reviewed by the Public Prosecution Service.

These charges are in connection with a search of a property in the Glenbawn Avenue area of Dunmurry on Saturday, August 18, when a quantity of suspected class B and class C controlled drugs were discovered.

During the search of the property a number of youths attacked police with stones and bottles. One petrol bomb was also thrown. No police officers were injured during the disorder.

A 17 year old male was arrested on suspicion of riotous behaviour and he is currently in custody assisting police with their enquiries.
