Man faces pipe bomb charges

A GLENGORMLEY man is due to appear in court next month to answer charges relating to two pipe bomb attacks on the home of a north Belfast community worker earlier this year.

Francis Paul McNally (23), of Glenvarna Drive, faced six charges in court in Belfast last week, including making and possessing explosive substances and causing explosions with intent to endanger life.

The alleged offences relate to attacks on the Glandore Avenue home of Mary Kelly on April 13 and June 22. During the most recent incident, a partially-exploded device was discovered on the windowsill of Mrs Kelly’s property.

Mr McNally did not apply for bail during the appearance at Belfast Magistrates Court. He was remanded in custody to appear again via video-link on August 11.
