Man facing indecent charges is back in court

A 42 year old Ballyroney man facing serious charges of making indecent images of children, and of having sexual intercourse with an animal, appeared back before the local court last week.

Garth Michael Williams from Mill Road Ballyroney, made a successful bail variation.

His solicitor told the court that the Prosecution had no objection to removing the condition that he had to sign bail at a certain time on a Monday and Friday at a police station.

The court heard how Williams has gained employment. He was reminded however, that he still must sign bail; just not on the days originally set out by a previous court.

Williams faces a total of five charges; possession of indecent photographs, making indecent photographs of a child, distributing indecent photos of a child and possession of an extreme pornographic image - each charge relates to March 3, 2014.

The fifth charge is that on a date unknown, he had sexual intercourse with a living animal.

Last Thursday his solicitor also asked that Williams be excused from attending the next remand hearing on August 21, explaining that his client lives 100 miles away and this requires him to take a day off work for travel purposes.

However, District Judge Mr Paul Copeland said given the serious nature of the charges he expected Williams to appear before the court in six weeks time.
