Man filmed police on his mobile

A COLERAINE man who filmed police on his mobile phone appeared at North Antrim Magistrates' Court last Friday.

Adam Gareth Hutchinson (23), of Daneshill Road, was charged with disorderly behaviour and two assaults on police.

Court heard that police were called to a bar at Limemarket Street on November 20, last year, following a report of a disorderly male.

On arrival there were 30 to 40 people outside the bar. The defendant was spotted with a dark coloured object in his hand.

Police approached the defendant who became abusive and assaulted a female officer.

Hutchinson’s abusive behaviour continued and he shouted “F*ck the PSNI Republican ba*tards’, before assaulting a second officer.

Barrister, Francis Rafferty, said Hutchinson felt that the police were heavy handed on the night.

Mr Rafferty added that his client had been trying to record the actions of police on his mobile phone.

A pre-sentence report was made available to the court on the defendant.

District Judge, Richard Wilson, told Hutchinson that his behaviour was ‘totally wrong’.

He ordered him to pay 200 in compensation to each of the officers and placed him on probation for a year.
