Man fined £100 for being disorderly

A man who was causing a nuisance and asking passers-by for money at 8.40am on Portstewart's Coleraine Road started shouting loudly when police arrived, saying: 'Take me, go on take me in'.

Patrick Gerard McGothigan (28), of Stroanshesk Park, Ballycastle, was arrested and was aggressive and banged his his head off a police vehicle.

A defence lawyer said the defendant is a paranoid-schizophrenic and normally injects his medication but on the day in question had been taking his prescription drugs orally.

As he left the dock after being fined £100 on a disorderly behaviour charge, McGothigan said “All the best” to the judge.
