Man forgot he had drugs at home

A Ballycastle man genuinely forgotten he had drugs in his possession, North Antrim Magistrates Court in Coleraine was told last Wednesday.

Before the court on two charges of posessing a Class B controlled drug was David Mark Gordon Watson of Caman Drive in the town who admitted the offences.

A prosecution solicitor told the court that on April 13 last police searched defendant’s home and found a clear bag containing a small amount of Herbal Cannabis valued around 20.

Another clear pack containing another small amount of resin, value 5, was also found.

Defendant was arrested and cautioned and made a full admission and pointed out that the drugs were for his own use. He had no previous convictions.

A defending solicitor said the amounts in both cases were very small and defendant had, in fact, genuinely forgotten he had them.

District Judge, Richard Wilson, reminded Watson that Class B drugs were illegal and that he should stay away from them otherwise he would go to prison.

Mr. Wilson fined Watson 150 on each charge and made a disposal order on the drugs.
