Man found on road near Coalisland named locally as Stevie Conlan

The man who died tragically in Killen this morning has been named locally as Stevie Conlan.

Mr Conlan was in his 40s and was described as “a lovely lad” by local Sinn Féin councillor Joe O’Neill.

The victim was understood to have left a friend’s house to walk across the Mountjoy Road to his home shortly before his body was discovered, according to Cllr O’Neill.

Cllr O’Neill expressed his sympathy to Mr Conlan’s family and said: “I just feel devastated for the whole family. Stevie was a lovely lad.

“He was a great supporter of our party and a member of Sinn Fein.”

Cllr O’Neill said he has been inundated with calls this morning about Mr Conlan’s tragic death, with people keen to express their shock and sadness.
