Man gave dog ‘breath of life’

A man was taken to hospital after a fire at a property in Fishwerwick Crescent on Friday.

It is believed that the fire may have started from a tumble dryer in the garage of a semi-detatched property.

An occupant in the house, a male in his 30’s, was taken to hospital suffering from smoke inhalation.

We also understand that a member of the family burst back into the house to rescue the pet dog which had succombed to smoke inhalation. First aid was administered to the pet and it recovered.

The fire was well developed on arrival of Crews and working smoke alarms in the property alerted the occupants to the fire. Firefighters wearing breathing apparatus used a jet and hosereel jet to deal with the blaze.

The fire is thought to have started accidentally and was dealt with at 9.01pm.
