Man hospitalised after assault

Police in Londonderry are investigating the report of an assault of a man in the early hours of Wednesday, June 15.

The man reported being punched and kicked by a male sometime between 1am and 1.30am in the area of Crawford Square. He was later taken to hospital and treated for cuts to his head.

Constable Monica McColgan has appealed to anyone who may have seen a male, described as being of medium build and wearing a black jumper, jeans and brown boots in the vicinity of North Edward Street, Clarendon Street, Northland Road or Crawford Square at the time of the assault to contact officers at Strand Road on 101 quoting reference 84 15/06/16.
