Man in 20s injured in early hours gang assault in Cookstown

Police are appealing for witnesses following reports that a young male was assaulted by a gang outside business premises on James Street, Cookstown.

Constable Smyth said: “It was reported at approximately 1am on Sunday 23rd October, a male in his early 20s was assaulted by a number of males inside and outside a business premises on James Street in Cookstown.

“As a result of the incident the male received several injuries, however they are not believe to be life threatening. 

“We are appealing to anyone who may have witnessed this incident to contact police.

“In particular, we are wanting to speak to a male who was driving a dark coloured BMW Series 4 who spoke to officers at the time of the incident to get in contact with police in Dungannon on the non-emergency number 101, quoting reference 109 on 23/10/16.

“Or, alternatively if someone would prefer to provide information without giving their details they can contact the independent charity Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.”
