Man in bid for return of late dad phone pics

A Portadown man who was robbed in West Street in the early hours of Friday morning is offering £50 for the return of his phone - or even just the SIM card - which contains irreplaceable photos of his late dad.

The man was set upon by two men outside Knox’s butchers, as he walked home from Bar 2 around 1am.

He said, “There were two of them. The one who attacked me had a beard and short hair, the other was bald.

“I was punched and went down on my knees. They took about £30 cash and my phone which was in my front pocket.

“I would rather have broken my leg than lose my phone. It has photos of my dad who passed away in October. They aren’t backed up anywhere else.”

The phone is a Samsung Galaxy S6 and has a distinctive chrome cover on both sides. The screensaver is a picture of the man’s 18-year-old son and 20-year-old daughter.

The man, who sustained bruises to his right side and left buttock and injured his back, said the attack was totally unprovoked and that the men did not speak during it.

He said, “I had spotted the guy with the beard in Robinson’s but I had never seen him before in my life.

“The attack seems to have been well orchestrated.”
