William Robert Brown, whose address was given to the court as Westacres,
Craigavon, admitted writing a cheque for £580 knowing that the Bank of Ireland account was closed on May 28
last year.

The court heard that on June 26 last year the injured party, who owns a business in Portadown, said the cheque Brown had written for auto parts had been returned by the bank unpaid.

The defendant said he expected the money to be in the account and did not
know it was closed because he did not open any correspondence.

A barrister representing Brown said he had
borrowed money from his mother to make restitution of the money.

District Judge, Mr Mervyn Bates, adjourned the case until June 17 for a short
pre-sentence report to consider a community
disposal for the
offence.
