Man in court on arson charge

A man has appeared before Londonderry Magistrates' Court on an arson charge.

In the dock was Sean McIntyre (45), with an address on the court record at Crawford Square, Cityside, who pleaded guilty to setting fire to his room in a local homeless shelter.

The court was told McIntyre admitted one charge of arson endangering life on March 14, last year at the Simon Community hostel in the Waterside.

Sentencing was adjourned until April 13 for a probation pre-sentence report to be compiled.
