Man in the Iron Mask backs Hats off for Nepal

The Larne Lough councillor, pictured during Carrickfergus’ Bruce 700 Festival, later donned a topi as part of the Prendy family’s efforts to raise money for earthquake-stricken Nepal.

Jane Prendy, whose mother 77-year-old mother Marita was stuck in Nepal for two weeks after the original massive earthquake, launched the “Hats off for Nepal” social media campaign in order to draw attention to the family’s Go Build-Nepal initiative.

The scheme seeks to raise £4000 to build ten homes for impoverished earthquake victims in the country, particularly members of the Dalit caste, known as the “untouchables.”

The family have already attracted the support of comedian Russell Brand, Miss Northern Ireland Leanne McDowell and model agency boss Alison Clarke.

The initiative is also being supported by staff at Larne’s Ledcom, who turned out in topis to show their support.
