Man injured by street robbers

Detectives are appealing for witnesses following the report of a street robbery in the area of Malone Place in south Belfast during the early hours of Saturday, March 18.

It was reported that at approximately 2.10am, a man, aged in his 20’s, was approached by two males and assaulted.

They forced him to empty his pockets and made off with his wallet and mobile phone. The males both had Belfast accents and made off in the direction of Blondin Street following which it is believed they continued onto Sandy Row towards Hope Street.

The man sustained injuries to his upper body and head as a result of the incident.

Detective Constable Mahony is appealing to anyone that may have witnessed the incident or anyone with any information that can assist with the investigation to contact detectives at Musgrave Reactive and Organised Crime Branch on 101, quoting reference 271 of 18/03/17.
