Man injured in Kilrea

It is believed that the man had been in the Bann Road area just prior to 4am when he received his injuries, which he is now receiving hospital treatment for. He had been socialising in the Cookstown area earlier in the evening and had returned to Kilrea by bus.

Anyone who knows of the man’s movements prior to 4am or who has any information about this incident is asked to contact Coleraine Police Station on 0845 600 8000.

SDLP MLA John Dallat has condemned the attack, in a statement he said: “I was shocked to hear of the injuries sustained by a young man in the Bann Road area in the early hours of Sunday morning.

“I understand he had been on a night out before returning home on a bus and subsequently received the injuries at around 4am. I would urge anyone who saw anything that may help police with their investigation to contact Coleraine PSNI station as soon as possible”.
