Man injured in paramilitary style shooting

A 21-YEAR-old man has been shot in the ankle in a suspected paramilitary-style shooting in Dunmurry on Tuesday night.

The incident occurred shortly after 9.15pm outside a house in the Lagmore area.

The man was walking along the Twinbrook Road when a car with two occupants, who had their heads and faces covered, pulled up alongside, stopped him and told him to get into the car.

The man was then driven to a laneway at the top of Whiterise and shot in the ankle.

He was taken to the Royal Victoria Hospital where his condition is not believed to be life-threatening. Lisburn police are investigating.

Police said paramilitary involvement is one line of enquiry.
