The Lurgan man said he was visited by a children’s social worker from the Gateway Team on Saturday evening who gave him some worrying information about the 18-year-old man his 17-year-old daughter is seeing.

He said: “She told me the man my daughter is seeing is a danger to children under the age of 16.

“She wouldn’t tell me exactly what he’d done. I’d suggested that it was because he had underage people in his flat drinking. She said it wasn’t. She told me to read between the lines.”

It’s understood the man, who is a foreign national, has a residence in the Hospital estate on the outskirts of Mourneview.

The concerned father said: “I told my daughter to stay away from him, but she’s 17 and she says she’s capable of making her own choices.

“I’ve a 10 and 11 year old as well and I’ve told her under no circumstances to allow him near them.”

He added: “I think this was flagged because he told a health professional that he helped my daughter to babysit my two-year-old granddaughter.”
