He was 23-year-old David McCready, whose address was given as Glanroy Avenue, Portadown, and he admitted the theft of goods valued at £22.98 belonging to Tescos in Craigavon on October 21 last year.

The case had been listed as a contest last Friday but the defendant changed his plea to guilty.

The court heard that about 3pm two males were detained for suspected shoplifting. The defendant had nothing relevant on his record.

A barrister representing McCready said he had significant mental health issues and engaged with the Bluestone unit.

He added that the defendant found himself going along accepting and knowing that a theft was going to be committed.
