Man is tied up and beaten

A MAN was tied up and beaten with a hurling stick in Crumlin during an aggravated burglary in the early hours of Wednesday morning.

Three men smashed their way into the house through a large front window at around 3am.

They tied up then blindfolded the only male occupant, a 59-year-old, before assaulting him.

Police say that he was beaten numerous times around the head and feet with a hurley bat while the intruders demanded money and other valuables.

Police say that they believe the men remained in the house for over two hours before ransacking the property and making their escape empty handed.

The householder was able to raise the alarm at around 6.30am.

He was then taken to hospital for treatment for his injuries.

Detectives are keen to hear from anyone with information regarding this crime.

They would especially like to speak to anyone who noticed any suspicious vehicles or people in the vicinity of the Diamond crossroads during the early hours of this morning.
