Gary Davidson (23), Union Court, Lurgan, admitted making to a police officer on July 7 this year a threat to kill a female.

He was put on probation for 12 months.

The court heard police were called to a domestic incident in Lurgan. There had been a verbal disagreement and Davidson was asked to leave the house. Later he called police saying he would do harm to his partner.

When police questioned him he admitted making the comments but said he did not intend to carry them out.

Mr Pat Vernon, representing the defendant, said Davidson’s partner was with him in court.

He explained that it was a neighbour who had made the complaint to police and the defendant’s partner never felt in any threat from him.

Mr Vernon said that on the day in question Davidson had called to take his son to the park but he was a few minutes late and an argument ensued.

He mistakenly thought that she had reported him to police and bizarrely he rang police and made these threats, added Mr Vernon. The solicitor said they were made in anger and at no stage did Davidson mean to carry them out. They were made in a moment of frustration.
