Man mugged as he leaves local shop

DETECTIVES are appealing for witnesses after a man was mugged and assaulted in the Ballynahinch Road area of Lisburn on Tuesday evening (August 23).

The 30-year-old victim had just left a shop at the junction of Old Hillsborough Road at around 7.20pm when he was grabbed by an unknown attacker.

The robber made off with a mobile phone and wallet after he shoved his victim against a wall kneed him in the crotch and punched him in the ribs. When the victim fell to the ground he dropped both his wallet and mobile phone.

Detectives are keen to hear from anyone who was in the area and who witnessed the assault. They are particularly keen to hear from an older woman who helped the victim after the attack but who had left the area in a white car before the police arrived.
