Man pleads guilty and not guilty

A 26-year-old man has decided to contest two charges of having an offensive weapon in Banbridge on October 16 this year.

But Stephen Vincent Anthony McPolin, Edenderry Park, Banbridge, admitted a number of public order offences.

Through his solicitor he pleaded guilty at the court to disorderly behaviour at Edenderry Park, attempted criminal damage to a police vehicle and two assaults on police.

However the solicitor indicated he would be contesting further charges of possession of an offensive weapon, a ten foot pole, and also a second possession of an offensive weapon charge, a wooden board.

The case was adjourned last Thursday at Banbridge Magistrates Court sitting in Newry until December 8 when a date will be fixed for a contested hearing.
