Man rescued from Carrick a Rede island

A casualty has been airlifted from the island at Carrick a Rede rope bridge.

Ballycastle Cliff rescue and HM Coastguard Paramedics were tasked to the scene at lunch time on Monday.

A Royal Navy helicopter from Prestwick in Scotland airlifted the causualty, believed to be a male, to the Causeway Hospital at Coleraine.

The island is linked to the mainland by the world famous rope suspension bridge.

It is understood the casualty sustained head injuries after falling.
