Man rescued from River Foyle

A man in his 20s has been rescued from the River Foyle.

The man went into the water from the Foyle Bridge at around 1.20 p.m. today.

Foyle Search and Rescue recovered the man from the water and he has been taken to hospital for treatment to his injuries which are not believed to be life threatening.

Police and the Northern Ireland Ambulance Service were at the scene.

A number of passing motorists and pedestrians witnessed the incident.
