Man said to have '˜considerable record' of offences

On account of his considerable record a pre-sentence report was ordered in the case of a Lurgan man who admitted motoring offences last Friday at Craigavon Magistrates Court.

Brian Paul Ward (24), Inisfail Walk, Lurgan, pleaded guilty, through his solicitor, to five offences which happened on March 31 this year.

They are taking a car without the consent of the owner, not having insurance, not having a driving licence, obstructing police and having a defective headlight.

District Judge, Mr Mervyn Bates, said that given the defendant’s record which was considerable, containing 25 road traffic offences, a pre-sentence report would be required.

He adjourned the case until June 3 and released Ward on his own bail of £500 with the conditions he resided at his home address and he reported once per week to police in Lurgan.
