A MAN has been sent for Crown Court trial on fraud charges relating to a six-figure sum of money.

Declan McGarry (29), of Tober Road, Ballymoney, faces 23 charges of fraud by abuse of position, with the intention of causing loss to a Ballymena-based business and a number of individuals.

The charges allege that McGarry, while occupying a position in which he was expected to safeguard the financial interests of his clients, dishonestly abused that position by issuing cheques for various amounts, drawn in his own name and other names.

The offences are alleged to have taken place on dates between December 2007 and October 2009.

McGarry was returned for trial, on his own bail of £500, to Antrim Crown Court on August 23, following a preliminary enquiry at Ballymena Magistrates Court.
