Man sent taxis and takeaways to house

Thomas Robin Wilson (24), Oak Grove, Banbridge, admitted a charge of harassment on February 16 this year.He was sentenced to two months in prison, suspended for 18 months.

The court heard that the injured party contacted police saying that a number of taxis had come to her address and takeaway deliveries.

A number of fast food outlets had been asked to deliver to her address and taxi companies asked to do a pick up but they were all fictitious.

Police were able to identify the defendant through his phone and he admitted making the calls.He had been in a relationship with the injured party and had made the calls to get back at her.

A solicitor for Wilson said he was a single parent to a one year old who was the daughter of the injured party.

He added that the two of them had an acrimonious relationship and Wilson would say she had made a number of malicious calls.

These included calls to the dog warden and police that the defendant’s dog was involved in badger baiting and the child was not being looked after.

The solicitor said his client accepted he was very foolish and was embarrassed at what he had done.

In a fit of angst he had acted this way.

Deputy District Judge Laura Ievers said she would not make a restraining order but warned Wilson to ‘stay out of the way of this young lady’.

But, she added, this incident had caused ‘considerable upset’ to the injured party.
