Man seriously injured in Stranocum road collision

Police are appealing for information following a road traffic collision in the Ballinlea Road area, near Stranocum, at approximately 4.50pm on Monday.

The incident involved a lorry which was recovering a forklift that had gone into a ditch and a man who got out of his car to assist.

The male, who is aged in his 20s, has been taken to hospital for treatment to his injuries which are currently believed to be serious but not life threatening.

PSNI Inspector Colin Reeves said: “I would ask anyone who knows anything about this serious RTC to contact Coleraine Police Station on the non-emergency number 101, quoting reference number 918 of 13/02/17.”

Part of the Ballinlea Road currently remains closed to traffic.
