Man shot in Portrush

Detectives are appealing for information following a shooting in the Windsor Place area of Portrush last night (Tuesday).

Shortly before 11pm it was reported that a number of masked men entered a house in the area and shot a 21 year old man in both legs.

The man has been taken to hospital for treatment for his injuries that are described as serious.

A 19 year old female and a baby boy who were in the house at the time were not injured.

It is believed that the males made off on foot from the house.

Detectives would appeal to anyone with any information about this incident or anyone who witnessed any suspicious activity in the Windsor Place area last night to contact CID at Coleraine Police Station on 0845 600 8000.

DUP MLA Adrian McQuillan has condemened the shooting, he has called on anyone with information to come forward to police.

“In the space of a few days we have had two shooting incidents in the area - one in Ballymoney and now in Portrush.

“This is a very worrying trend and it is proof that there are still guns on the streets.”
