Man squirted with pepper spray during 'mugging'

Around 8.45pm a man reported he had been approached by an unknown man carrying a weapon.

The man, who spoke with a local accent, produced pepper spray and squirted it in the male's face before taking his wallet.

The raider left made off with the wallet which contained a sum of cash and personal items.

Anyone in the area of the Larne Link Road on Saturday evening and who may have witnessed the incident or anyone behaving unusually is asked to contact detectives in Ballymena on 0845 600 8000; information can also be passed via the Crimestoppers charity on 0800 555 111.
